Well, we’re moving forward in this shitshow of a timeline. But it’s Spring! Or well on its way to it, anyway, so let’s do a little Spring cleaning with a magical floor wash. In the box:
Kitchen towel
Selenite egg for purity and new beginnings
Sphere stand for altar, with phoenix fire to help burn out the old stuff
Korean coffee and fruit treat for a little snacky snack energy boost
Glass gem: butterfly for transformation
Rue (from my garden) to cleanse and purify. Caution: abortifacient! Avoid if you’re pregnant or trying to get that way.
Wormwood (from my garden) to protect, and enhance divination
Mugwort (not from my garden) for protection and to enhance intuition
Okay! First off you need to do a deep clean. I like to use PineSol after learning that the recipe was based on Floore Washes of Olde or whatever- its ingredients have historical references (see this blog post from New World Witchery for PineSol and other common/mundane home cleaning agents: https://newworldwitchery.com/tag/pine-sol/) that we can use to our advantage.
So sweep, dust, vacuum, get all the solids out. Maybe you want to throw down some of the Rue and some salt beforehand to “absorb” negative BS, and then sweep it out of your house and out the front door (which you then collect and throw in the trash- don’t just litter by leaving it loose out there). Then do your “wet” wash, with PineSol or pine oil for spiritual and physical cleansing, or a citrus-based cleaner for some brightness. If the walls and door can take it, I wipe them down too.
Next we make our wash. Honestly I don’t have time for fiddling around, so if I got this box I’d just dump the herbs into a bucket as I ask each one for help with [whatever I expect it to do/add], add some slices of lemon or other citrus for brightness and happy times if I had it, maybe some rosemary on behalf of whatever else the Universe thinks I left out, maybe a pinch of salt for extra oomph. I might also add a splash of vinegar to push out nasties. Slosh it around (aka stir I guess) and let it cool. When it cools, dunk a clean mop or shop cloth or whatever you clean your house with, and just start wiping things down, ceiling to floor. Start in the “center” of your home, as much as you can, and move outward, so you “push” out the things you don’t want.
An alternative would be to put the ingredients in a muslin bag or strainer that you do NOT use for things you ingest, or strain it through a coffee filter, and then put it in a spray bottle and just spray everything down.
If you’ve been here a while, you know that I don’t really do verbal things with my spellwork; it’s mainly breath and thought. If you have a particular phrase, or even an entire speech, that you like to say, feel free to share it on the Discord!
After the cleaning and cleansing, I like to make a good saltwater solution with more rue and mugwort, and walk the perimeter of the outside of the house and ask for help from the land and usually Hekate in working together to keep us all safe. After pushing everything out and then creating the boundary, I like to bring in the good stuff. I might do another wash for it, or just dress a candle. I’d use marjoram for joy, chamomile for peace, mugwort for spirit, and of course more rosemary for whatever else the Universe thinks I need. I might also add some rosepetals for love, and honeysuckle or honey powder for sweetness. Top it off with cinnamon for warmth. I feel like all of these help call in the cozy, happy feels we usually want in a family home.
Of course, if you have pets or kids, keep them out of this stuff until it’s dry.
Then siddown and enjoy a nice cup of that coffee stuff! I bet it would be good if you made it and then dumped it over ice. Idk what to tell you about that fruit thing. It’s kinda weird. I’m trying to move to gluten free stuff so everyone can enjoy them. This one is… interesting.
