Garden Hands

I know this is a little late getting out. Sorry. If you have seen/heard me on Marco, facebook, or insta stories, you know I’ve been horribly sick with Ham Jordan (what my fever dream told me was the name of this virus). Since this is actually something that can hold stuff like germs, I didn’t want to make it while I was still sick. The oil got an extra 2 weeks to steep all those delicious herbs, though, so that’s something. Here’s what’s in the box!

Creosote hand salve (ingredients below)

A selection of gemstone bracelets:

  • Aquamarine (courage/stress reducer)

  • Red jasper (protection/grounding)

  • Black obsidian (protection)

  • Lapis (strength/courage)

A black cardamom pod (protection)

Sandalwood scented incense

Forest Blackberry tea

Clever Kim’s Creosote Cream (keep refrigerated)

Dried creosote from my garden. It’s just good for aches and pains. It’s also wonderful for small cuts and bruises.

Arnica- another good one for bruises and other “I knocked into it” marks.

Calendula: wonderful for skin health, helps reduce inflammation

Chamomile: calming and keeps skin happy

Avocado and jojoba oils, beeswax, cocoa butter

Lemongrass and peppermint essential oils to lift your spirits

This salve may be a little gritty because I didn’t double strain it. I personally like it that way- I like the touch of exfoliant the dried herbs add. And, since there’s jojoba and cocoa butter in it as well, it tends to disappear after a few minutes without being greasy. At least it does on me. I’ll put the recipe on Patreon later in case you want to try to make (or tweak) it yourself. Keep it in the refrigerator though- I didn’t add any Vitamin E or preservatives.

As for the spell this month- I’m sick, y’all. I don’t have it in me to craft anything fancy. It looks like the things I chose (in advance, interestingly) are mainly for protection. The salve can actually also be used for protection- it acts like a barrier cream against dry, damp, grody March weather! At least that’s how my March is going so far. Throw those bracelets on, hold the cardamom pod and sniff it as it warms up in your hands. Black cardamom isn’t as sweet as the green that is usually used in baked things- it’s smoky, because it’s smoke-cured. Take a good sniff and think about how it’ll be nice to grill outside, and be warm, and not have chappy, cracked hands! Then slather your hands in creosote salve and go about your business.

The Plus gift is another piece to add to your wall hanging. Can you see what it is yet?
