It’s officially Summer! I’m sending you a few things to beat the heat. In the box:
Jamaica (hibiscus)
Lemon
Rose hips
Berbere
Wood folding fan
Popping candy
Mercury necklace
Selenite tower
We’re making Jamaica! It’s a sweet and tart drink that I met in El Paso, where it was turned into Agua Fresca. It’s yum, and really good for you! I sent enough to make a quart; you just need to add sweetener. Basically you dump the hibiscus and rose hips into a pot and pour a quart of boiling water over it. Simmer until the water turns a nice Koolaid red. You can add a couple cloves and a cinnamon stick if you want, but I prefer it fruity, myself. Cool and strain it, then add sugar and lemon to taste. Use like a syrup- you’ll want to cut it with water.
Hibiscus is used in a lot of love spells, but in India, they are often worn by Kali- goddess of change. The hibiscus is for the change we’re hoping to make in our world right now, and the rose hips are to remind us to love ourselves even when the bastards try to tear us down. The lemon is for adding protection and brightness.
Speaking of change, I made the Mercury necklace to help us communicate what we want and need. Clear quartz for clarity of communication, and garnet to keep us brave enough to keep speaking out.
The satin spar tower is to remind us to stay cool, calm, and collected. Until it’s time to not, and then throw it in a sock and get to work.
The berbere is a DELICIOUS spice blend from Ethiopia. I’m going to give you a recipe for one of my favorite Ethiopian dishes. The peppers in it will make you sweat, which will help cool you off in this heat!
The glass gem for the month is a key, in case you want to ask The Mother for some help, or just to work with her in general.
