Transformation

Welcome!

First- I apologize for being out of the loop, AFK, etc. This past coupla months have been a shitshow. I figured transformation would be a good start to the year, considering how the last one went.

Here’s what you need:

Blue candle

Red rose petals. These are to remind us to love ourselves as we attempt to change.

Walnut leaves to represent the changing of the seasons both in color, and as they drop in fall and winter and are reborn in spring.

Mugwort to represent a new spiritual beginning.

Eggshells, mainly because I just love working with eggshells and who doesn’t want to add a little protection? It also represents the change from egg to bird.

Snake shed to represent shedding our old skin and starting anew.

Moth and cicada wings (preferably ethically collected) to represent transformation- caterpillar to moth, creepy underground alien to creepy winged alien.

Monsoon water (optional)- my version of Florida water. In this case it calls to mind the transformation from dry brown desert to gorgeous green and filled with flowers, leaves, and grass. (Flammable AF so don’t put it on a candle please)

Bath salts for self-cleansing in case you like to do that.

Take your cleansing bath (or shower) if you do that. If your bath product has flowers or whatever in them- I recommend putting the salts in an old teabag or some cheesecloth so the plant matter doesn’t jank up your pipes. Picture the on the things you want to lose as actual things on your skin- scrub them off and watch them go down the drain.

If you have a mortar and pestle, break it out to make this easier. If you don’t, you can use a cloth or plastic bag- just add the ingredients and roll over it with a rolling pin or a round jar until it’s nice and crushed and blended. I use the cicada wing as an altar offering though, because they’re so gorgeous.

Add each ingredient, telling it what it’s for and what you hope it helps you achieve personally. I am going with confidence (mugwort), fewer instances of procrastination (snake shed), and spending more time with my husband that isn’t just us watching TV together (rose petals). As you crush them together, think about what this “new” you will be like, what your life will be like, and what you will achieve with these changes.

Wet the candle with moon water or whatever kind of oil you use and like. I actually usually use sweet almond oil because that’s what I keep in my studio. Roll the candle in the mixture, repeating your intention of change as you do so. Once it’s dressed, set it up near a place where you can sit comfortably to watch it.

Make a circle of monsoon/Florida water around the candle with your finger (remembering it’s flammable so not too close), and put the cicada wing next to it.

Light the candle and ask the Universe (or your chosen deity If you work one) for help in keeping you on your new path this year. Concentrate on the changes you want to make.

When you feel like you’re finished, snuff the candle and thank the Universe for listening and existing, and thank yourself for being there and attempting this work. Choose a specific time once a week to repeat it until the candle is gone.

Welcome to 2021! We made it through! I’m glad you’re here.
