Self Love

Happy February!

Everyone voted on the poll (six people actually, and I only have five Patrons, which…is interesting) and self-love won by quite a bit. This month you’re going to perform a bathing ritual for self-love.

Here’s what you need:

Pink candle

Red rose petals (honestly any will do, but red is what I’m sending to the C&C tier), to enhance intuition, for love, and for protection

Chamomile for protection, peace, and tranquility, and because it’s good for your skin

Jasmine flowers for love, happiness, and confidence

Lavender for calming and healing, to your skin and your psyche.

Red clover is good for skin (especially if you have eczema) and helps bring prosperity

Brittlebush petals and basil flowers: brittlebush is a tough but pretty little plant that grows here in the Sonoran desert. It will grow ANYWHERE, and I included it because 1- it will definitely add some endurance and strength, and 2- it’s super pretty. Basil is a symbol of love and the flowers are gorgeous.

Milk and Honey powders: luxurious and good for skin- also they smell great. Milk is for cleansing/purification, honey is to sweeten up your life and get the spell to “stick”

Not included but recommended- Epsom or sea salts. There just wasn’t room in the box, sorry. This is for protection and grounding.

Finally is the necklace- it’s a spell I worked out and created, that you can wear. If you don’t get the C&C box you can write the runes on yourself with bath oil (or a Sharpie if you dgaf). First is Feoh- the worth of something. Next comes Wunjo, for joy. Finally we have Mannaz, for self (the wearer). The spell reads like this: Worth and joy combine for self.

Working The Spell

If you cast a circle or call corners, go ahead and do that now; another option is to do it in the bathroom before you bathe.

If you like, you can dress the candle. Pinch from the herbs as you wish, adding more or less of what you feel you need. Crush them in a bag, between two spoons, or in your mortar and pestle. Rub a little oil or whatever liquid you prefer (if you use Florida or Monsoon water please be sure it dries completely before lighting the candle), pulling it towards you (bringing it in). Sprinkle the herbs over the candle, or roll it in the herbs. Put it in your holder and get ready for your ritual bathing.

For the bath or shower, I recommend using a muslin or cotton bag to keep detritus out of your pipes/septic system. I guess those organza mesh bags will work but I’m trying to move away from plastic. I included one in the C&C box.

As with the candle, add the herbs you feel you need to the bag- you don’t need to crush them. If you’re taking a bath you can add the milk & honey powders and salt directly to the bath water, but if you are showering instead, add them to the bag with the herbs.

Tell each ingredient what its job is as you go- most of them do multiple things. If you like you can roll the bag around in your hand to crush the herbs and bring out the oils in them. It will smell great.

When you’re ready to bathe, bring in the candle and your herbs and powders. I like to do this sort of thing in low light as it helps me remove myself from this world and move into the magical one. Start running the bath so it’s ready, and give your shower time to heat up. If you’re taking a bath probably add the powders and salt as it fills so it has time to dissolve.

If you work with deities, ask for their assistance in helping you develop care and love for yourself. You could call on Aphrodite, Eros, Freyja, or Venus, for starters.

Specify things you want to work on- Do you want more confidence in your looks, or in the office? Do you want to feel worthy of kindness? Do you want to deserve to be treated with respect? I certainly hope so. Add all these to your petition. Light the candle and ask for all of this- you DESERVE IT. Think about how you’ll feel when you receive this, and be glad. Let the deity or the Universe know that the herbs on the candle are being offered up to it, like you have yours in your bag.

Get into the water and use the bag to wash yourself. Feel the ingredients moving from the bag into your skin and psyche. Head to toe!

Once you’re done, don’t rinse if you can help it. Pat yourself dry. Let the bag drip onto the candle to extinguish it as you thank the deity or the Universe in helping you achieve your goal. Release the circle if you cast one.

I tend to head to the bedroom after these, as I find that sharing the energy from an orgasm is a GREAT way to thank the Universe for help in spellwork and it brings me good results.

I like to periodically revisit this so I keep the candle in my bathroom, even if I run out of the bath stuff.
