Magical Mask

This month we’re going to perform a self-love (actually self-healing) ritual. Yes, again, because mama needs some care, yo. We’re making face masques and toners! If you’re allergic to any of these, LEAVE THEM OUT. Don’t eat anything, either. Metaphysical uses for herbs are below (be sure to tell them their job as you assemble!), mundane use is mainly for good skin.

Here’s what you need:

Red rose petals (honestly any will do, but red is what I’m sending), to enhance intuition, for love, and for protection

Calendula for transformation/protection, whichever you feel you need

Chamomile for protection, peace, and tranquility

Lavender for calming and Healing

Red clover helps bring prosperity

Milk and Honey powders: Milk is for cleansing/purification, honey is to sweeten up your life and get the spell to “stick”

distilled water, a drop or 2 of sweet almond oil, witch hazel, 2 small jars

Those super-creepy face masks, and some coffee filters

Lepidolite cube for stress reduction

Working The Spell

If you cast a circle or call corners, go ahead and do that now; another option is to do it in the bathroom when you mix this.

Using the spoon I sent you, add 2 scoops of each flower to your mortar and pestle (or whatever you’re using). Crush them in a bag, between two spoons, or in your mortar and pestle.

Tell each ingredient what its job is as you go- most of them do multiple things. If you like you can roll the bag around in your hand to crush the herbs and bring out the oils in them. It will smell great. The calendula and chamomile specifically smell freaking AMAZING.

If you work with deities, ask for their assistance in helping you develop care and love for yourself. You could call on Aphrodite, Eros, Freyja, or Venus, for starters.

Once you activated the oils by crushing the herbs, divide them in 2 equal parts and put them in the 2 jars. Add ½ cup of distilled water to one, and ½ cup of witch hazel to the other. Put a lid on each one, label the jar, and put them in your fridge. Shake the shit out of them at least once daily. Put the lepidolite on top of the jar, maybe alternate which one it’s on each day or something.

After a week or two, use the coffee filters to strain each jar. Compost the plant matter and the coffee filters please. Or dig a hole in your yard and bury them.

You can use the water just as is, but I like to add a drop or 2 of oil so it moisturizes. I use either sweet almond if I have it, or avocado because that’s what’s in my kitchen. Sweet almond oil is a 2 on the comedogenic scale, and avocado oil is a bit higher at a 3. Both are high in oleic acid. Also add a pinch of honey and/or milk powder if you want it to be extra luxurious.

If you add the oil and powders, shake the shit out of the jar again and drop one of the masks in it. Then plaster that baby on your (clean) face for about five or ten minutes.

After that you can take it off and rub any excess in, or just rinse your face off. OR do what I do, and dip a cotton ball or whatever into the toner you made and use it to wipe off any oil that didn’t sink in.

Even for those who love summer, like I do, August is kinda hard because it’s hot and everyone’s sweating and school’s about to start and you see the cute school supplies in the store and you just start questioning your life choices so LET’S GET FANCY WITH OUR FACES OKAY? LET’S MAKE FANCY FACE JUICE MASKS.

THEEEEEE end.
