Witch Bells
We’re almost to Spring. Keep holding out! This month is traditionally windy, at least everywhere I’ve ever lived. So I’m sending you some witch bells with a suncatcher to spread cheer, rainbows, and hopefully a little protection.
Included in this month’s box:
A snowflake obsidian bracelet for protection
Protection powder to re-do wards for the quarter
Japanese sandalwood incense
A packet of the caffeine I like, because I mention it on Marco a lot
A shield penny for your car
A witch bell with a rainbow maker/suncatcher on the bottom
For the Plus tier: obsidian absorbs negativity, and Uruz strengthens you and the work you do while wearing it.
I tend to do warding on the dark moon. I usually put a spoon of the protection powder in a cup of blessed moon water, Florida water, monsoon water, or whatever other concoction I’ve created for that particular working. Sometimes it involves everything I just listed and more.
I usually do this at night. One reason for this is because I feel witchy af at night, and the other is that I have neighbors.
I walk around the house deosil (clockwise) while saying some variation of “As I walk, I pull down and in the wards and protections and barriers I put up. Thank you for helping keep me and mine safe.” Not those exact words, but you get the gist. I personally don’t usually speak aloud, by the way- when I say “say” I mean I repeat it in my head, or mayyyybe I say it under my breath or just move my lips without making sounds. I’m not saying you need to do this- I’m letting you know that you should do whatever works for you.
Then I get my cup of magical stuff, and a flicking tool- usually a popsicle stick, but if there’s nothing dangerous in your cup you can use your fingers. I have used bones before, during specific times. I walk widdershins (counterclockwise) to repel and push out, and as I walk the perimeter of the house/yard/whatever I’m protecting, I say something like “In the name of (whoever I’m calling on- Hekate, the spirits of this place, my ancestors, whatever) I ask that you help keep us safe and protected.” Then I start flicking, and I usually flick three times per 3 steps because for me, 3 is a magical number. I usually reduce the wording to something short, about a sentence, that has a certain repeatable rhythm and sibilance, and I repeat it without stopping until I’ve circled the place completely, 3 separate times. I’m not going to tell you what I say because it changes each time, I don’t have a specific, set wording. It just happens as I walk and isn’t preplanned or anything. Usually I’ll take the stick and use the remaining liquid to write some sort of bindrune on the windshields of the cars. Generally I use Raidho, Algiz, and Uruz, maybe with Sowilo. They vary as well, but always include the first 2 for protection during transportation/movement.
Use the sandalwood incense to bless the witch bells and put them either in a window to catch sunlight and spread it around your room, outside as a little witchy windchime to spread protective vibes when it rings. I don’t recommend putting it in your car because I nearly caused a crash when my hand got caught in my stupid graduation tassel once so I never do that anymore.
Put the penny on your dashboard with the shield facing up to “shield” you from accidents and from the eyes of the cops, if you’re a speeder.
